Entry is by random drawing. Round 1 is open September 23 to October 20, 2026 with results on October 28; round 2 runs October 21 to November 10, 2026 with results on November 18. The age group individual fee is $879.

Cutoffs
The swim must be finished by 8:30 am (1.5 hours after the start), the bike by 10:15 am and the run by 12:45 pm, which is 5.5 hours after the start.
Rules and FAQ
Wetsuits and field size
Wetsuits are mandatory and may be at most 5 mm thick; water temperature is around 55 degrees. The field is limited to 2,000 athletes because of the capacity of the start boat.

Besides individual entry there are open relays for teams of 2 or 3, a corporate relay for teams of 3 and a collegiate division for teams of 5.

About the race
A point to point swim of 1.5 miles from beside Alcatraz Island to Marina Green Beach, an 18 mile out and back ride through the Presidio to Golden Gate Park, and an 8 mile run past Fort Point and Baker Beach that climbs the Sand Ladder before finishing on Marina Green.
